For a little while now, I've been trying to up my game when it comes…

A Poem for Friday
This one is a tad whimsical, but I’ve always thought it was fun. I wrote it while working full time at one (of many) job where there was never enough to do. Also, the title is punny, which makes it awesome in and of itself.
(Much Is) Ode To My Umbrella
Though it’s just eight inches long
And scarcely two around
There isn’t much that can go wrong
When my umbrella can be found.
It doesn’t storm or even drizzle
When my brolly’s in my hand
The sun bears down in heated sizzle
Unless I leave it in the stand.
On days like that it’s almost certain
That the clouds will roll on in
And rain will fall, a soggy curtain
That soaks and chills me to the skin.
It’s guaranteed that I’ll be struck
By water gushing from the sky
Filling puddles up with muck
If my umbrella’s said goodbye.
I’ve learned and now I won’t go out
And chance the fated tide
I will not go, without a doubt,
With no umbrella at my side.
