A Weekend In The Dirt

It seems like spring is finally starting to spring around here – so I think our family plans for the weekend will include lots of gardening. I have to say, this is my least favorite chore. I love the idea of gardening, but it’s just not something that I’ve ever enjoyed. Still, the time has come for new mulch in the garden beds and I think we’ll also end up planting some seeds – my older boy has been begging to do this since last year – and we actually purchased some seeds and a planter and then never followed through.

I’m hopeful that the seeds will still germinate and grow. I am excited about the prospect of growing tomatoes – I love them and get tired of the hothouse ones. But the last few times I’ve tried growing anything like that, the birds ended up eating the seeds and baby plants before I had a chance to do anything.
