Bonus Book Review: Finding Our Way Home

In Finding Our Way Home by Charlene Baumbich we meet Sasha Davis, an injured ballerina, and Evelyn, a somewhat clumsy engaged-to-a-bad-boy nineteen year old who takes the job of Sasha’s assistant. Though the snow globe is not prominent on the cover (like others in the series), this is a Snowglobe Connections novel – and as such, you need to be prepared for God to speak through the snowglobe (and for there to be very little God apparent in other places.) I’m kind of ambivalent on that issue, so I’ll leave it at that.

Though it took me a while to get into, Finding Our Way Home ends up being well worth the effort of the first 100 pages. It’s a lovely story of two women becoming friends, a woman reconciling herself with her past, present, and future, and above all grace. At points you will want to strangle both of the women to shake them out of their pity party, at other points you’ll cheer. To me, that’s a sign of good, real characters (after all, we don’t love all the real people we know all of the time – sometimes we want to strangle them, too.)

If you’ve read others in the Snowglobe series, you’ll definitely want to add this to your list. If you haven’t, you won’t be out of the loop if you start with this (you just might be surprised by the whole snowglobe mysticism). Either way, it’s well worth reading.

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for a review (though it didn’t have to be a positive review.)
