Book Recommendation: Worth the Time

Do you read YA books, too? I have to admit, I’m another of the “way too old if you go by the definition, but loves it” YA reader. Last year, my publisher released the first in a new YA series called Worth the Wait. It’s a lovely coming of age with hints of romance (it’s not straight romance, cause it’s so much more about Ellie’s growth than about her love choices) that I think so many young women today could benefit from reading. So I was excited when book two in the series, Worth the Time, came out this month.

In Worth the Time, we focus on Lindsay. I’ll admit, it was a bit hard to get into because Lindsay is the mean girl in book one – but from that standpoint alone, it was a great book for the reminder that oftentimes, the mean girls of the world are that way because of hurts in their own lives. (Which doesn’t make it any easier to be the focus of their ugliness, let’s be clear. But it’s always a good exercise to remember that, whether they’d admit it or not, they’re people just like you and me, and still in need of God’s grace and our love.)

Once I got past that hurdle (and it didn’t take long – by the end of the prologue, I was rooting for her), I loved finding more about her and watching her discover how worthy of love she is and shift into someone willing to take off the masks she’d been wearing and be real.

Plus, Sutton is hot.

This one is a bit more romance-y, but still a definite coming of age/finding your family/ realizing your worth message.

So if you’re looking for a good YA read (or you know a YA-aged girl who is), this is one I heartily recommend!
