Book Suggestions

If you’re like me, you’re always on the lookout for some good book suggestions. So I thought I’d offer a few to round out your end of summer reading list. Or the start of your fall reading list. However you want to look at it.

sneFirst up, Speak No Evil. This is book 2 in the Rustic Knoll Bible Camp series, so if you haven’t read Hear No Evil, you should grab and read it first. They do stand alone, but you get to know the boys and the camp really nicely in the first and they’re both so well written, you don’t want to miss either one. What I love about these books is that they harken back to summer camp days and make you yearn for your chance to go back for a week and relive that cabin/boating/swimming/team sports experience all over again. They also have lovely messages without being preachy. And the kids are all very real – struggling with the things that the middle school crowd knows all about.

Next up is Ma Tutt’s Donut Hut. This is a charming and quirky cozy mystery – sort of a collection of short, related stories more so than “chapters.” But it has a delightful main character full of spunk, as well as a magical cat, and small-town charm. It’s a quick read, but a delightful way to spend a few hours in a book.

msgAnd finally, A Message to Deliver. This is a neat exploration of God sending someone from heaven to deliver a message to a hurting person who needs to hear about forgiveness and God’s love. Along the way, we see angels and demons locked in battle and explore what it means to forgive when the hurt is deep and personal.
