For a little while now, I've been trying to up my game when it comes…
Crazy Busy Times
Things around the home front have been busy lately – and even though the start of the school year doesn’t really impact us from a school perspective (we started our homeschool year at the beginning of August because we’re kind of laid back about the whole thing and the earlier start makes that possible), it seems like there’s a lot going on non-school related that’s all coming to a head.
I’ve been busy working on the various guest posts I’ll have up here there and everywhere in the month of September to celebrate the release of Serenity to Accept – fear not! I’ll pin them to the top of the blog and put them on Facebook so you get a chance at a free copy if you want one. I’m also gearing up for the ACFW conference in Indianapolis.
It’s amusing to be headed back to Indy – I spent so much time there working on a work project in the late 90s that they were talking corporate apartment for a while. And as nice a town as Indy is, when the project was over I thought to myself, “And now I’m done visiting Indy.” Ha. But hey, at least this time I won’t be writing computer code all day. (And all night.)
Part of gearing up for the conference involved new business cards, and I like the color scheme on the cards so much that…I think it’s going to be time for a website redesign here very soon. So keep your eye out (and start saying goodbye to all the pink.)
I’m also our church’s AWANA commander this year. I’m still not sure it’s the right position for me, but I really feel like it’s where I’m supposed to be serving, so I’m just trusting that God’s going to get me through it. I love AWANA – so that part, at least, is exciting. But that’s all getting ready to kick off here as well. (Hint for those of you who might be thinking of registering your kids for AWANA this year – go ahead and do it now, don’t wait for opening night. Please.)
And somewhere in there I need to find a bit more time to work on my novellas – because Matt and Laura are hanging in limbo right now and I feel bad for having deserted them.
Finally, I have to ask – does anyone else visualize the year kind of like a compass? And if so, is September at the North in your mind? I’ve always seen the start of September like rounding the curve up to that final top quadrant of the year. Tell me I’m not alone.
