For a little while now, I've been trying to up my game when it comes…
Do You Play Board Games?
Last summer, my husband had to go on a two-week business meeting to Colorado to kick off a new project his company was working on. One of the main focuses of the trip was team building amongst the disparate companies that would be working together on this software build. So in the evenings, the teams were “strongly encouraged” to hang out together and get to know one another. Another team, having been told this might be coming, had brought along Pandemic. Well, my husband was hooked.
Nearly as soon as he got home, he convinced me to order it and we began to play. Shortly thereafter, I was hooked. And now we have date night at least once a week (not that we didn’t have date night before, but coming up with something to do other than watching TV had become a bit of a challenge) and we pull out Pandemic. (We’ve even ordered–and are enjoying–one of the expansion sets.)
What I love most about it is that it’s a collaborative game. So my husband and I work together to cure the world of rampaging diseases. You have to communicate with your partner if you want any chance of winning. It also manages to feed on both of our strengths. He’s great at strategy, I’m better at short term planning. Combined, well, we kick booty a good deal of the time. (And then other times we get our booties handed to us in short order and reset the board to try again.)
So, if you’re a board game family and are looking for something worth playing, I can’t recommend Pandemic highly enough.
