For a little while now, I've been trying to up my game when it comes…
Do You Review?
As I’m starting to count down to the release of my first novel, I’m working with my publisher to figure out a marketing plan. One of the things that I think helps readers choose a novel (at least it certainly helps me) is reviews on Amazon (and other store websites). So, in thinking through give aways or contests or that type of thing, one of the things that I would like to come out of a given away book is a review (doesn’t have to positive – obviously I hope it will be, but really I want people to say what they think. A well written negative review has often made me buy a book because I’ve found the things that the reviewer didn’t like are things that I look for and/or am ok with.)
So the question is…do you review books that you read? Do you only review the ones you like?
The next question, along the same lines, is when you read a good book…who do you tell?

I guess you could say that I review. I keep track of the books that I read on Good Reads and I do try to write a little blurb to explain why I gave the book the star rating that it received. I wouldn’t say they’re full blown reviews, though. I don’t go into the great detail about the story or characters or writing that true reviewers explain.
That’s how I tell people, too. I’ll mention a really good or terrible book on Facebook. I try to remember to blog about them, but I haven’t done as much blogging as in the past.
Thanks, Jen — sometimes I think just a thumbs up/down is enough (at least for me as a reader). And it’s always good to see some kind of opinion. I need to do more with goodreads – it looks like a good tool.
I used to try very hard to write a review for every book I read. Havent done that in the last year though… Not sure why, but just havent felt it was worth the energy.
I would love to review your book! And I promise to give it a positive review at the very least from the viewpoint that it is not formula pulp fiction like so many Christian romance writers churn out today!
