Happy New Year! My Resolutions…

Happy New Year!

I have a hard time believing it’s 2014 – I still feel like I’m too young to be living in the 2000s. (I remember as a child doing the math to see how old I’d be in the year 2000 – and now we’re 14 years past that!) In my personal life, I tend to avoid making resolutions. I have a habit of taking on guilt – so setting myself up with situations where I’m likely to feel guilty is just not a great idea. But it seems like a reasonable thing to set some writing-related goals (not really resolutions if we call them goals, right?)

I have three books coming out this year – so goal number one is to make sure I meet all my deadlines with a little time to spare! And that’s a goal I need to meet because, well, contracts!

Goal number two is to get back to writing for at least an hour a day. This is completely doable – even with homeschooling thrown in the mix – I just need to get back into it. When we started homeschooling this fall, we had some schedule adjustments and it’s been hard for me to get back on the horse as far as daily writing. This has led to some crazy days of hiding away from the family and sprinting to try and make deadlines and I hate it. Pretty sure they do too. So I’d really like to avoid that in 2014.

Goal number three is to be able to put together the other two Grant Us Grace novellas (to go along with Joint Venture). Or at least one of them. Those stories are percolating and starting to want out – so I’d like to make or find the time for that to happen.

Finally, goal four is to try and get more reviews on my books – particularly on Amazon where reviews factor into how your book gets recommended to other readers etc. So I’m going to start on that now by asking you, if you’ve read any of my books and not left a review on Amazon, would you please consider doing so? It’d mean the world to me!

Have you made any resolutions (or set any goals) for the new year? Share them in a comment!

  1. Writing related goals as well. Focusing on output. Can’t control sales or algorithms or the number of reviews we have (asking in an authentic way like you did is fine), but we can control words on pages. For the most part! Stay strong in 2014!

    1. Lyn – definitely need to focus on the things we can control! Looking forward to our collab – hint hint 😉

    1. Rhonda that is the best thing for anyone to do – something we should all have as our #1 priority. Good for you!
