Infertility Awareness Week: You Are Not Alone

AWITVFrontThe theme of Resolve.org’s National Infertility Awareness Week this year is “You are not alone.” And really, there’s not a more perfect theme that I can think of – because alone is absolutely how I felt when my husband and I were in the thick of things. And yes, even with my husband at my side, there were days when it felt like he wasn’t there – wasn’t on the same journey I was on. That kind of alone. It’s dark and horrible. And it’s false.

That said, there weren’t a whole bunch of resources out there that helped me feel less alone – there were plenty of research books that I gobbled up, but other than that? And that’s why I was blessed to join with an amazing group of women to put together A Walk in the Valley: Christian encouragement for your journey through infertility. And it’s why I’m so grateful that it released today.

Our stories are all different, but they’re all tied together with the same heartbreaking diagnosis of infertility and we share them with complete honesty about the highs and the lows and the lower-than-lows.

I know if you’re like me, talking about infertility is the last thing you want to do when it’s part of your life. But it’s so important to do what you can to help the woman sitting next to you understand that she isn’t alone and, regardless of the outcome, there’s someone who has walked that path before and made it out the other side.
