For a little while now, I've been trying to up my game when it comes…
It’s Christmas Movie Time!
I’ll admit, I wasn’t always a cheesy Christmas movie watcher. I hadn’t even seen White Christmas until my senior year of college. Christmas movies just weren’t a huge priority in my house growing up. And I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I don’t know that I’d go so far as saying I make them a priority now. And yet…I do enjoy a good, cheesy Christmas movie.
This weekend, I sat down to watch White Christmas. I had no expectations that my family would join me. My hubby dislikes the fact that they’re always bursting into song. And my boys are, well, little boys. (You have to admit, Bing Crosby is awesome, but not someone who’s going to hold the attention of active boys.) But, as Wallace and Davis and the girls arrived in Pine Tree, Vermont, the littlest came and snuggled in next to me on the couch. Shortly thereafter, my hubby came and sat on the other side. And before I knew it, the oldest was at my feet. My heart was full.
Of course, they didn’t make it through the end — and that’s all right. (Frankly, it’s probably good that I don’t have to explain why mommy is blubbering like a baby as the troops come marching down the stairs of the stage toward the General. Because I don’t know that I can explain it. I just know that I always cry. Always.)
I’ll be digging up my recording of The Christmas Card soon, too. And Holiday Inn. And, inevitably, my husband will want to see The Christmas Story (now that one holds the kids enthralled, as do Rudolph and Frosty, which I’m sure we’ll see before long, as well as the Charlie Brown Christmas and The Grinch.)
Do you have a Christmas movie (or movies) that you have to watch every year?

Yes, Miracle on 34th Street, and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. A Charlie Brown Christmas always makes me cry when Linus explains the true meaning of Christmas from the Bible.
Aw, I love that part in Charlie Brown, too! And I laugh perhaps a little too hard at the National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.
