Kicking Off Our Awana Year

Last night was the culmination of a lot of what’s been dragging me away from my keyboard and writing lately – Awana has finally started up. I love Awana — loved it as a kid, love it now as Commander for our church’s club, love that my kids love it. Love love love.

All things considered, the first night went off pretty well. When I got up in the morning, we had 61 kids registered. By the time church was over, we were up to 85. I haven’t finished processing all the other walk-ins we got last night, but I’m guessing based on the height of the paper I need to input that we’re between 110 and 120 kids.

The best part of all of it? We’re actually pretty decently staffed! This has been a huge prayer all summer for me and God answered it with amazing abundance. We even had a few folks who had volunteered in the past show up and say they hadn’t been going to join in but they changed their mind that afternoon, could we use them? (Answer: yes. I will find somewhere for you to serve!)

I’m looking forward to a great Awana year ahead.
