For a little while now, I've been trying to up my game when it comes…
Looking Back Over the Year
It’s always fun, I think, to look back over the year as we prepare for the coming New Year.
This past year, I was able to write and publish the Remnants series. Faith Departed came out in March, Hope Deferred in July, and Love Defined in December. I’m pleased with how the series came out and I hope that it provides entertainment as well as some thought provocation to those who read it. Infertility is something many in the church experience, and yet, it’s not something that gets talked about. The wounded in our pews often sit in silence, wishing someone had an inkling of what they’re going through. If infertility isn’t a path you’ve traveled, but you’d like to have that inkling, the Remnants books provide a glimpse into some of the stories that are out there.
It seems that 2014 was the year of writing about infertility for me, because in the late spring/early summer, I was privileged to work on a devotional with some other wonderful writers about our experiences walking those paths. That devotional, called A Walk in the Valley, will be released in April 2015.
I also dipped my toes into indie publishing for the first time this past year, releasing Kinsale Kisses in October. That little Irish novella is dear to my heart, not only because it was my first foray into the true indie world (those of us with small presses are kind of in that indie world already, the way things work) but also because it let me walk through Southern Ireland again. I probably spent entirely too long flipping through scrap books and re-reading my travel journals while I was writing it, but honestly, it’s such a delight to spend any amount of time in Ireland (even virtually), I can’t be sorry about it.
I’m also well on my way into the series that will be published in 2015. I’m heading back to romance (from women’s fiction) and I’m already simply delighted with the way things are shaping out. But there’s more about 2015 coming on Friday when I lay out my plans and goals for the new year. So stay tuned!
What about you? How was your 2014? I’d love for you to share your triumphs (or trials!) of the year that’s on its way out.
