Mall Adventures

I took the kids to the mall on Friday. Now, I’ll be honest, I hate the mall. I’ve never been one to shop simply for the sake of shopping. If I need something, I figure out where it is, park right there, run in, buy it, and get out. But, since I’m trying to be better about moving about here and there and everywhere, I decided we’d park at one end and walk to our various locations and back and get a few extra (teeny) bit of exercise taken care of at the same time.

So we started out at the Lego store. We needed a birthday present, plus my eldest had some allowance he’d been saving up and was thinking of spending it. He opted to spend it elsewhere, so we got the gift and…made our first potty trip of the morning. Cause the little one decided he had to go. Never mind that it had been maybe ten minutes since he last went.

Then we made our way through the bulk of the mall to the shoe store. (With only two stops for the potty on the way!) Feet measured and new sneakers for both boys. Check. Then next door to the Crocs store. Yes, Crocs are ugly. But the kids love them and I can hose them off pretty easily in the summer, they dry fast, and all things considered, they’re a bit safer (based on toe coverage etc) than sandals or flip flops.

Pay dirt! Buy one, get one 50% off! And the sign was right in the middle of the licensed designs, too! So we picked out two sets of Star Wars Crocs and…”Oh, the licensed designs are excluded.”

Um. The sign is in the middle of the licensed shoe display. We went round a little and she finally said if I didn’t mind her ringing them up separately, she could give me 50% off one pair manually. I didn’t mind.

More shoes. Check. Back on our way, heading toward the car – only one more potty trip (honestly, I’m thankful that our mall has so many bathrooms and they’re not disgusting.) We snagged an Orange Julius on the way out (cause really, Orange Julius!) And we were done, with quite a few lovely steps walked along the way.

But I’ll be good if I don’t have to hit the mall again for another six months. Do you like to shop?

  1. I’m so with you I cannot stand malls, I prefer Walmart or an open air mall where all the stores are separate and you can drive to whichever one you want, but I only shop if I need something I do not like shopping.

    1. I do like open air malls where you can just go to one store. I’ll say that our mall has a lot of different entrances, so it’s much easier to park near where you need to be and hit just it.

  2. The older I get the less I like it. However, I spent ALL DAY Saturday and the afternoon Sunday shopping with my mom and sister, so even though the shopping got tiring, it was great just getting that quality time with two of the moat dear ladies in my life. 🙂 Back a few years ago, I might have been what one wouldcall a “shop-a-holic”Lol! Not literally but I used to absolutely Loveeeee shopping.

    1. Oh it’s definitely more fun when you’re there to have fun with friends. Glad you had such a great time!
