For a little while now, I've been trying to up my game when it comes…
Modern Conveniences, How I Love Them
My dishwasher broke on Saturday.
When we came in from shoveling, I opened the door and pulled out the top rack to begin the unloading process…and two little pieces of plastic snapped and the rack dropped. Thankfully, I had a pretty good hold on it, so it wasn’t a smashing, clattering catastrophe and I was able to grab all the mugs, bowls, and glasses and put them away.
But still.
Back before kids, it was a good week if we ran the dishwasher more than once. Between there just being two of us and the fact that, generally, we only ate dinner at home, it simply didn’t fill up all that quickly. Now? With four of us (three of whom are home for three meals a day most days)? That puppy gets filled up in a day and a half.
It’s things like this that make me glad for a handy hubby. He got online, found the parts that he thinks we’ll need, and ordered them. They should come today. Which means that hopefully I can go back to running it a little less frequently (and, bonus, stop doing quite as many dishes by hand. Cause after growing up without a dishwasher and then getting one? Hand washing isn’t really on my list of things I love.)
What modern convenience would you not want to go without?

Indoor plumbing
Uh, yeah. That’s a given 😉
I love my washing machine. I do not want to wash everything by hand. Of course this goes alongs with indoor water. No creek or pond for me.
Oh for sure! I hadn’t even thought of the washing machine — but no, I don’t think going back to washing clothes by hand is on my “to do” list anytime soon 🙂
Washing machine!
Ha – right? And I think I’d even rule out the hand-cranked machines that replaced the scrub boards.
So spoiled.
