For a little while now, I've been trying to up my game when it comes…
Monday Check In
Last night was the award ceremony for our AWANA club. I’m so proud of all our clubbers – they really did an amazing job this year. And our church had their first ever Citation Award winner. If you’re no familiar with AWANA, that’s kind a of a big deal. It means she completed 10 books between 3rd and 12th grade, read through the entire Bible twice, and memorized over 900 verses. Several schools give college scholarships for earning this award and our clubber will be the recipient of one next year when she goes off to school. So proud of her!
I’m also looking forward to the little break I get now, I won’t lie. Sundays get tough when AWANA is in full swing with church in the morning and then club at night. Totally worth it, but I’m looking forward to having those evenings back for a little while.
My eldest’s end of the year test arrived on Friday, so we’ll be spending some time this week getting that out of the way. And then his Kindergarten year will be officially over. I’m super proud of him, too. And what’s really cool is being able to look back at where he was when he started and realize that not only has he learned a ton, he’s matured quite a bit. He’s still an active kid, but he *can* sit still and focus when he needs to and let me just say there have been a number of points in the last six years when I wondered if we’d ever get there. So, if you have a kid that everyone around you is suggesting needs medication, take hope, he might just need to grow up some. (Which is not to say some kids don’t honestly need medical help – I just think we ought to leave it to the parents and their doctors to decide, not push our opinions on them simply because they have a kid who’s active.)
In writing news, I believe all the copy edits for Hope Deferred are finished. I’m excited for it to release next month (and it’s available for pre-order at a pretty decent discount right now if you’re a hard copy fan.) I’m knee deep in Love Defined (the final book in the series) and itching to start on the first romance in a new series that’ll come out next year. The heroine will be Lindsey (from Courage to Change). So if you’ve been waiting for her to get her happily ever after, it’s on the way!
Beyond that, don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter if you haven’t already. And tell a friend. Or two. 🙂
