On Twitter

Honestly, I wonder if Twitter has outlived its usefulness. I try, really I do. But the most I can come up with to tweet is a link to my latest post (which doesn’t necessarily seem to result in any additional page views) and a random update here or there on life.

I go to look through the tweets of people I follow and find that the majority of it is marketing spam for their writing. And not just blog post links – those I would probably find useful. It’s post after post after post (sometimes 5 or 6 in a row from the same person) with either a blurb or a customer review and an amazon link. Now, I know Twitter is supposed to be a marvelous marketing tool…but I would think one to two tweets a day would be more useful. (Certainly land you in the unfollowed category less often.)

I’m about to go through and unfollow a number of the worst offenders in the hopes of finding useful information rather than ads. I don’t hold out a lot of hope that it’ll help. But we’ll see.
