For a little while now, I've been trying to up my game when it comes…

Open Wide
Apparently I forgot to set up blog posts for the week. I hope you’ll forgive my silence yesterday (and I think this post may be what needs to suffice for the week. Bear with me, if you will!)
We spent our Tuesday afternoon at the orthodontist with my oldest. His mouth is too small for the enormous adult teeth that are trying to come in. So, it’s time to try and make some room. There were x-rays and pictures and long, detailed descriptions of appliances that will go on the roof of his mouth and help increase the space therein…and all in all, we both left a little traumatized.
I had braces as a kid (well, in high school — that’s still a kid, right?) And then I got to have them again as an adult after I had my TMJ treated. All in all, it wasn’t horrible, though I remember strongly disliking the rubberbands they use to adjust your bite (though they were fun to snap at people. Not that I’d do that, of course.) But I never had to have my palate expanded. Just the sound of that…ugh.
My husband also had braces as a kid — he even had headgear that he had to wear at night — but no palate expansion for him, either.
So this will be an adventure. He’s nervous (as you might expect), so if you think of it, I know he’d appreciate your prayers. We start treatment next week.

Thanks!
