For a little while now, I've been trying to up my game when it comes…
The Frost is on the Pumpkin
In elementary school, we had to memorize the poem referenced in the title. I have to admit, every time I wake up and see a good, heavy frost on the lawn, the stanzas flicker through my brain.
It’s getting to be the part of fall that I love the most. There’s a definite snap in the air, even during the day. At night, you have no choice but to snuggle under a blanket and dig out the warmer pjs. (Whoever invented micro fleece seriously deserves an award of some kind.)
And I’m finding myself looking at the end of the year and realizing it’s closer than I think. Thanksgiving is looming. After that comes Christmas decorating (yay!), Advent, Christmas, and New Year’s. And then – with the new year – the release date for my book. I’m excited and just so slightly nervous about that. (I haven’t sent a child off to school, but I suspect the feeling is similar – letting your baby out into the world at large all on its own.) It’s lovely to have something to look forward to in the new year though. I often find the first few weeks of January to be tough after all the busy-ness of December.
What’s your favorite part of the end of the year?
