Vacation Dreaming

It’s getting to the time of the summer when most of our friends are on vacation (or just getting back from vacation or preparing to leave on vacation) and so…I’m dreaming of a vacation.

Since we homeschool, we generally try to go out of town when everyone else is in school. It’s less crowded. Often cheaper. And generally everyone has a better time. But it doesn’t stop the wanderlust.

Which leaves me thinking…what kind of vacation would I want to take right now? We’re not beach people. (I say that, but I think my hubby actually likes the beach. And the boys might enjoy it. But…okay, I’m not a beach person. And I guess the thought of me being so miserable keeps hubby from demanding beach time.)

So, the beach is out. What then? I’m miserably hot. July brought all the ook of Virginia summer. Heat. Humidity. Blech. So I’ve been thinking: Maine. I would love to just get in the car and drive to Maine and see what there is to see. I went to Maine in middle school as part of a mission trip with my youth group. We ran VBS for a small church. I remember it as being lovely and cool and a lot of fun.

Where would you go, if you could head out on vacation today?

  1. I’m exactly the same way! Yes, the ocean is beautiful, and so are sandy, white beaches, but after seeing it for a bit, I’m ready to move on.

Maine? Hmmm. That sounds lovely, or maybe Niagara Falls. But please keep me out of the heat and humidity. I find it hard to enjoy anything when I sweat buckets just standing still. 🙂

I would much rather go on vacation in the Fall! Niagara Falls in the Fall? Now that’s a great idea! 🙂
