What’s Your Favorite Christmas Tradition?

As we approach one of the best times of the year for reflecting on the miracle of Christ’s birth and what that meant for us, it’s also a lovely time to be thankful for the people God has put in our lives — particularly family.

Every year, my family gathers on Christmas Eve to read Luke 2, sing carols, and exchange gifts. We usually share a dinner of waffles and vanilla sauce before hand. It’s a wonderfully quiet and reflective time (even with two rambunctious kids running around.)

On Christmas Day, my in-laws join my extended family and we all have a meal together, usually at my mom and dad’s house. Then, when we’re all full, we return to our house to exchange gifts with the in-laws.

It’s busy and somewhat crazy, but it always is full of reminders of Jesus’ birth and the blessings we have. I’m so grateful that both my husband and I come from a long line of family members who loved Jesus and shared Him with their families.
