Wisdom to Know: More Casting

I’ve been thinking about a few more casting choices (and finding it’s getting to be more and more fun – though I still am not 100% sure about them – so if you read it and had someone else in mind, please let me know! I love to see the mental images you construct.)

Lydia’s dad, Pastor Paul Brown, is a recurring character in the series. In pondering various actors of the right age, I was having a difficult time coming up with anyone who I liked…until I happened across a Stargate SG-1 episode and saw Beau Bridges. Ding ding! I’m really liking him as the choice for Pastor Brown. He’s got the warmth and friendly look I was aiming for and, well, he’s pretty handsome for an older man.

That then got me thinking about Mary Brown (Lydia’s mom). I mention in chapter one that Lydia sees herself in 30 years when she looks at her mother, so there had to be some similarity between the two. I finally settled on Blythe Danner. I’m not sure I really came all that close on the looking similar issue, though you can probably stretch it if you try. Still, she works for me and I’ve not been able to come up with anyone better.
