Playing Dress Up

I’m one of those readers who likes to make my own mental pictures of characters and what they are wearing. I often seem to miss the descriptions of people anyway (I don’t know if it’s that my eyes just glaze over during in-depth descriptions or what, but I will still and forever contend that Menolly, in Anne McCaffrey’s Harper Hall trilogy has light, maybe even blonde, hair – no matter that Ms. McCaffrey put it in there as black. It just doesn’t fit to me!) Regardless, I’m told I’m not the norm in that respect – and so, I’m going to be doing a few posts on the characters from my books in the coming weeks (probably on Wednesdays) to help you create a visual of what I was picturing when I wrote it.

You’re welcome to continue to picture whatever it is you first imagined. I’m totally ok with that!

To begin the series, I’m going with the outfit we see on Lydia in Chapter One (linked for those of you who might have missed that preview and are curious) as she prepares to go on a date with Brad. It’s flirty but still leaning toward classy, but it definitely doesn’t scream “respect me.”

I’ll be highlighting more in the days and weeks to come, so check back. You can also find them (probably sooner) on the Pinterest board for Wisdom to Know.

If I can find people that I like, I might end up even choosing actors and actresses to play their parts. We shall see.

So, what do you think…does the outfit match what you pictured? Let me know!
