For a little while now, I've been trying to up my game when it comes…
Food, Glorious Food
The title of this post is a song from the musical Oliver! Did you know that? I love that musical. Perhaps it’s because we performed it when I was in the 6th grade (I was Nancy – hardest part of my role? Having to scream when I was “killed.” Mom never encouraged screaming growing up, so I was all “aaah” and it was almost a deal-breaker. I did finally manage it during the performances.) But, Oliver! isn’t the topic of this post (perhaps musicals will need to be in the future though) – no, the topic of this post is food.
I love food.
I love to cook it, but I also love to eat it. I’m guessing a lot of us are all in that same boat. Of course, the downside of this, particularly now that I’m on the other side of 40, is that I can’t indulge quite as much or as frequently as I might like. Which leads me to this post – foods I adore, and would eat every day if it was a tenable proposition.
First up, cheese. I love cheese. Cheddar is probably my favorite (the sharper the better), but I’m not picky. I really don’t know that I’ve met a cheese I didn’t love. Even the moldy ones. Yum.
Next, Rice-a-roni. Yes, I know, it’s horrible for you. But the butter and the pasta mixed in and the brothy mixture you use to get it moist? Man. I can eat a whole box of it if I’m not careful.
Finally, scalloped potatoes. Melty cheese, yummy potatoes, what’s not to love? It’s the comfort food of heaven.
What about you? What are your comfort foods?
