What’s On Your Menu?

I believe this may be a record for me. I don’t need to go to the grocery store before Thanksgiving! Usually I find myself there on Wednesday, fighting the crowd, looking through whatever’s left of the turkeys and cranberries to try and cobble together our meal. But this year, I do believe that I have everything I need happily already residing in my refrigerator!

When we first started hosting Thanksgiving for our extended family (since they’re all local), I used to love digging through Gourmet magazine and trying out the various menus they put together. I loved all the fancy recipes. I loved trying new things. And while some of the family members also loved it. Others…did not. So over the last several years, I’ve gone back to the simpler and traditional. It’s not as fun for me on the cooking front, but everyone seems to enjoy it more.

So our menu is pretty standard: turkey, ham, stuffing, creamed spinach, and corn pudding.

What are you serving?

  1. Game hens, stuffing, maple pecan yams, jellied cranberry sauce (husbands favorite), mashed taters, gravy, cucumber salad, and probably a pie. Hubby prefers apple. I want pumpkin.

  2. My daughter took Thanksgiving over a few years ago, and I love it that she loves cooking the dinner as much as I always did. Of course, I still help her cook though! ๐Ÿ™‚ The turkey is already thawing in the fridge, and we are going shopping today to get the rest. We will have turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, corn casserole, sweet potatoes, macaroni salad, dinner rolls, and a variety of desserts. A pretty traditional menu! ๐Ÿ™‚
